King calls for "detailed" inquiry into RBS systems

The governor of the Bank of England, Sir Mervyn King, has called for a "very detailed" inquiry into what went wrong with the computer system at RBS and why it took so long to rectify.

The problem affected millions of customers and transactions, although RBS says 99% of accounts should now be updated.

Sir Mervyn told MPs on the Treasury Select Committee that his office had been keeping in touch with the bank since the problems began.
