Treasury to announce details of bank lending scheme

Details of a scheme aimed at boosting lending by banks are to be unveiled by the Bank of England and the Treasury.

As part of the Funding for Lending initiative announced in June, Chancellor George Osborne hopes that banks will be encouraged to lend an extra £80bn.

5 liveBreakfast asked John Cridland, director general of the Confederation of British Industry, if it would provide the kick that the economy needs.
