The cost of Kuwait's growing obesity epidemic

Oil has brought great wealth to the Gulf but a huge change in lifestyles too.

Fast cars and fast food have seen obesity-related illnesses rise and the problem's most pronounced in Kuwait, where 88% of people are overweight.

The issue of health becomes even more pronounced during Ramadan - traditionally a time of restraint and reflection, people often overindulge when they break their fast at sunset.

So it's a good time for the health & fitness industry to give their services a real marketing push - but is anti-obesity a way to fat profits?

Simon Atkinson reports.
