Made in Japan: Manufacturers target niche sectors

Japanese manufacturers, once global leaders in various sectors, have seen their fortunes take a dramatic turn in the past few years.

While a slowdown in the global economy has hurt demand, a strengthening Japanese yen has made their goods more expensive to foreign buyers.

But undeterred by these hurdles, some firms are looking at ways to revive the Made in Japan tag.
