Food sales raise Greene King profits
Brewer and pub operator Greene King has reported strong first half-year results with pre-tax profits up 7% to just under £83m.
The company, whose chains include Hungry Horse and Loch Fyne, said turnover was also up by about 7% to £566m.
Chief executive Rooney Anand told BBC News that food sales had contributed strongly to the figures as customers turned to cheaper forms of casual dining.
Greene King operates nearly 2,300 pubs, restaurants and hotels.
