Two views on redundancy talks period cut

The 90-day consultation period before large-scale redundancies can take place is to be cut to 45 days, ministers say.

Employment Relations Minister Jo Swinson said the move, along with other changes, was aimed at helping workers and businesses.

The move was welcomed by the Institute of Directors' Alexander Ehmann who said it would give greater flexibility to employers.

But Sarah Veale from the TUC described the changes as an "absurd proposal".
