Labour: Ofgem not up to the job
The energy regulator Ofgem is "not up to the job", Labour's shadow energy secretary has said.
Caroline Flint told BBC News that a "tough new regulator" was needed to protect consumers.
The Energy and Climate Change Committee has called on Ofgem to be less timid in dealing with "anti-competitive" behaviour by energy suppliers.
The MPs say the big six energy firms take advantage of customer inertia to overcharge people who never switch, while offering cheap "loss leader" deals to lure new customers.
