UK unemployment total falls to 2.49 million

A fall in in the number of people out of work has been welcomed by the Minister for Employment Mark Hoban.

The Office for National Statistics said unemployment fell by 37,000 between September and November to 2.49 million.

Mr Hoban told BBC News that the figures were "good" but that the government could not afford to be complacent.
