Plastic bank notes get go-ahead after positive reaction

Plastic bank notes are to be introduced by the Bank of England from 2016 after a public consultation.

Some 87% of the nearly 13,000 people asked were in favour of the polymer notes.

The £5 note featuring Sir Winston Churchill will be the first plastic banknote in circulation, followed by the £10 note featuring Jane Austen.

Emma Simpson reports.
