Britannia merger 'exacerbated' Co-op Bank's problems

The merger between the Co-operative Bank and the Britannia building society "exacerbated" the problems of the two businesses, Sir Christopher Kelly has said.

Sir Christopher, whose report blames the deal for the Co-op Bank's near-collapse last year, stated that the merger might have been saved through "strong leadership", but added that this did not happen.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 30 April.
