John Lewis chairman: Yes vote would raise business costs
A Yes vote in Scotland would raise business risks, according to John Lewis chairman Sir Charlie Mayfield.
Higher costs of operating in certain parts of Scotland, that are normally spread over the whole of the UK, may not be absorbed after a vote for independence, he said.
A Yes vote would also raise economic uncertainty, he added.
Scottish finance secretary John Swinney said: "Charlie Mayfield is entitled to his opinion.
"I think the argument is one that is firmly contested by other retailers who do not take the view that has been expressed this morning by Charlie Mayfield."
