Mental health issues 'cost Australia $8bn per year'

Mental health problems are thought to cost the Australian economy some $8bn US dollars a year.

The country's Institute of Health and Welfare says absenteeism and reduced productivity from unwell workers harms business.

Now an alliance of business groups, the health sector and government has set up a national campaign promoting mentally healthy workplaces.
