GCSE results see rise in top grades
Pupils have achieved another GCSE record, with almost seven out of 10 entries (69.1%) being awarded a C grade or above.
Results just out show 22.6% of exams sat in England, Wales and Northern Ireland were awarded an A* or an A, up from 21.6% last year.
Schools Minister Nick Gibb told the News Channel the government is trying to overcome the attainment gap between the wealthiest and poorest students at GCSE level.
