Michael Gove: 'Teacher strike is unnecessary'

Over 3,000 schools in England and Wales will be closed and over 2,000 partially closed on Thursday when two teaching unions stage strike action.

The figures were given by Education Secretary Michael Gove in the Commons on Tuesday.

Mr Gove said the strike action was regrettable, unnecessary and premature and would cause "massive inconvenience to hard-working families".
