School teaches stand-up to make girls 'more resilient'

A school in London has employed a rather unusual method of improving its female students' confidence - by giving them stand-up comedy lessons.

Putney High School has bought in a comedy troupe to teach the girls to think on their feet, overcome fears of making mistakes and learn how to deal with the public.

Susie Longstaff is the head of sixth form at the South West London school.

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "We are just trying to teach them to take more risks and to be more resilient."
