A-level may include Russell Brand and Dizzee Rascal
A-level students may be given the opportunity to study language from some of the UK's best known celebrities, including Russell Brand and Dizzee Rascal.
The anthology of texts, which also includes material from Caitlin Moran and the Secret Footballer, is being proposed by exam body OCR for a new combined English literature and language qualification.
OCR's Paul Dodd told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire that the texts showed a "collision" of formal and informal speech, but Chris McGovern from the Campaign for Real Education said it was an example of "dumbing down."
A Department for Education spokesperson said the A level had not yet been accredited by exams regulator Ofqual and they would await the body's decision "with interest."
