Earl Scruggs bluegrass maestro dies at 88

One of the pioneers of bluegrass banjo music, Earl Scruggs has died aged 88.

Scruggs was born into a musical family in North Carolina and gained widespread fame on the country music circuit for his banjo picking.

He was credited with being one of the fathers of modern style country music as distinct form its early folk roots.
