Dickens play 'performed for first time'

A stage adaptation of Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, written by John Gielgud and Terence Rattigan, is being performed for the first time.

The actor and the playwright collaborated on the script in the 1930s but a planned production was cancelled at the last minute.

The play is finally getting a premiere on Friday night at the King's Head Theatre in north London.

The BBC's arts editor Will Gompertz reports.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 27 September 2013.
