Peter Carey: 'We believe our governments are benevolent'
Australian writer Peter Carey has said that we are all to blame for our loss of privacy.
The twice winner of the Booker Prize told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "We somehow imagine that our governments - or even, perhaps, the corporations who have enormous effects on the governments - are benevolent."
Carey also suggested his distaste towards the current UK government. "I admire everything about them," he said with an ironic tone, though he declined to elaborate.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on November 3 2014.
