MI5 DG: 'Six terrorism attempts in the last 12 months'

The Director General of MI5 - the UK's national security intelligence agency - Andrew Parker, has said there have been six attempts of terrorism in the last 12 months.

"We have seen six attempts at terrorism in this country, just in the last 12 months, that we and partner agencies with the police have had to intervene in to stop," said Mr Parker.

He also said it is the highest number he can recall in his 32 year career and "certainly the highest number since 9/11".
