Author who turned Black Lives Matter into best-selling novel

Author Angie Thomas describes the moment an unarmed black man was shot by police and how the reaction was different at her mostly-white university, compared to in her mostly-black home neighbourhood.

She told BBC Breakfast the differing opinions about Oscar Grant's death in Oakland, California, in 2009, led to her writing what became her best-selling novel The Hate U Give.
