'Gene link' to meningitis infection identified

Scientists say they have made a significant breakthrough which could help prevent thousands of children dying from meningitis each year.

Researchers say they have identified the genes that determine who is more likely to become ill.

It is hoped the findings will lead to the development of new vaccines.
