Spending Review: Care cuts 'may hit hospital beds'

Hospital beds in England could fill up with the elderly and vulnerable, preventing urgent medical care for those who need it, a senior NHS figure has said.

Nigel Edwards, the head of the NHS Confederation, said in a letter to the Daily Telegraph that cuts to social care budgets could mean "support... required after discharge will not be available".
