Stepping Hill Hospital pays £10m to brain damaged man
A hospital in Greater Manchester has agreed to pay around £10m to the parents of a man who was left brain damaged after being treated there.
Zachary Petrou was admitted to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport with a common infection in 1994 when he was seven months old.
In the course of his treatment, his parents claim his brain was starved of oxygen and now at the age of 19, he still has the mental capacity of a baby.
The hospital has not admitted liability for his condition, but has agreed to fund his lifetime care.
