Doctors will get chance to rectify failings, says Hunt
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been giving more information on a new nationwide scheme to give the UK's doctors annual appraisals.
He said that while the vast majority of doctors did a "brilliant job", but that the scheme was about addressing "deficiencies" and boosting public confidence.
Doctors found to be failing will be given a chance to identify and correct areas of weakness before they are stopped from practicing.
Mr Hunt told BBC Breakfast that he did not expect the scheme to cost much to implement.
