Birmingham Children's Hospital: Hayley Fullerton mother calls staff bullies

A coroner has said that NHS staff in Birmingham committed "serious failures" in the care of a one-year-old baby girl.

Hayley Fullerton died three years ago at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

She had been transferred to a ward there from the intensive care unit following open heart surgery.

The coroner, Aidan Cotter, recorded a narrative verdict, which doesn't attribute the cause of death, at the end of an inquest.

The hospital said it recognised that some of the care for Hayley Fullerton fell below its "usual high standards", but that it had learned from its mistakes so "no children or families experience anything like this again".

Hayley's mother, Paula Stevenson, said staff had failed in their duty.
