Heart gene therapy trial begins

A ground-breaking gene therapy trial for patients with damaged hearts has begun in at a London hospital.

The treatment uses a genetically modified virus, which contains instructions to produce a protein that heart failure patients are lacking in their heart muscle.

Heart failure affects more than 750,000 people in the UK.
