2009: Obama supporters line up before dawn

When Barack Obama took the oath of office in 2009, Washington DC was packed with supporters swept up by Obama's message of hope and change.

The crowd set a record for the most people at an event in the Capitol, and braved freezing temperatures to cheer the new first family.

The BBC's Gavin Hewitt reported from the pre-dawn streets of Washington DC on that cold January day.
