Billions of Earth-sized planets in galaxy, say scientists

Scientists have said there could be billions of planets in our own galaxy which are similar in size to Earth.

The team behind the Kepler space telescope has been searching for stars of a similar size to our sun and suggests one in six hosts an Earth-sized planet in close orbit.

Dr Robert Massey of the Royal Astronomical Society in London, discussed whether these planets would have the potential to sustain life.
