Japan cherry trees in early bloom in Tokyo

People in Tokyo have been enjoying the arrival of Japan's cherry blossom season which marks the beginning of spring.

Japan's Meteorological Society has said that the blossom had reached full bloom around 10 days earlier than usual.

The early blooming is thought to be due to warmer temperatures than normal and longer average daylight.
