Met Office volcano study due soon

The UK Met Office aims to deliver its modelling study in June on the consequences of a repeat of the 1783 Laki eruption in Iceland, which caused widespread disruption and death across Europe.

Dr Claire Witham, who runs the meteorological agency's effusive eruptions modelling project, spoke to our science correspondent Jonathan Amos about the study's scope.

She has been giving an update on the research to the European Geosciences Union General Assembly in Vienna.
