Earth-like planet discovered by Kepler telescope

Hundreds of new planets, spotted by Nasa's Kepler telescope, include a world sharing many characteristics with Earth.

The planet, which has been named Kepler-452b, is a hugely significant discovery according to mission scientists.

It is the most Earth-like planet ever seen and it has already led to speculation about its ability to host forms of life.

David Shukman reports.
