Music remixing software: Hit 'n' Mix and Acid Pro

Sampling music could soon be easier with software that extracts each musical instrument from an audio file.

Hit 'n' Mix takes an MP3 or similar file and samples each constituent part.

It is then easy to use a computer to adjust the pitch or other properties of each instrument.

Its developer, Martin Dawe, shows how to use it to change the BBC News theme for a News website feature.

Sampling Producer Mark Vidler has worked with David Bowie, The Who and Blondie.

He shows how he uses established software to remix the BBC News theme.
