Parliament Square protesters evicted

Peace protesters who have been camping in Parliament Square since May have been evicted.

Bailiffs moved in at around 0100 BST to remove the demonstrators from the camp, dubbed the Democracy Village, after the Court of Appeal rejected an application for them to stay last week.

Despite a handful of activists securing themselves to scaffolding, the area was cleared and a fence erected around the square.
