MacAskill rejects US senate Lockerbie hearing call

Scottish justice secretary Kenny MacAskill has again refused to attend a US senate hearing over the release of the Lockerbie bomber.

A US senator has "pleaded" with the Scottish government to appear before the hearing next week.

Mr MacAskill said that he has already been held to account by the Scottish parliament for his decision to release Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi on compassionate grounds because he is terminally ill.
