Nuclear submarine HMS Astute dragged free off Skye

A nuclear-powered submarine which ran aground in shallow waters off the Isle of Skye has been refloated, the Royal Navy has said.

HMS Astute is so new it has not even entered service and was undergoing sea trials when it got stuck on a shingle bank.

The crew had to wait until high tide this evening before a tug could pull it free.

Jonathan Beale reports.
