MI6 chief Sir John Sawers: 'Torture abhorrent'

In the first public speech by a serving MI6 chief, Sir John Sawers said using evidence from torture was avoided by officers who would have "nothing whatsoever" to do with it.

In a speech to the Society of Editors he said: "It makes us strive all the harder to find different ways, consistent with human rights, to get the outcome we want".
