2011 honours shines spotlight on local postmistress

The 2011 New Year Honours List has been published in recognition of outstanding achievement and service across the UK.

As well as some well-known names, including golfer Graeme McDowell and novelist Lady Antonia Fraser, the majority of the awards go to people judged to have made lasting contributions to their community.

Among those receiving honours are Kathleen White, who has worked at Claverley Post Office near Wolverhampton for 68 years, becoming sub postmistress in 1960.

She spoke to BBC News about what it meant to be awarded an MBE.
