Cumbria foot-and-mouth burial ground now nature reserve

It is ten years since foot and mouth disease was discovered in an Essex abattoir.

The disease spread quickly, and Cumbria was one of the worst affected counties.

William Little's farm was not struck by the disease, but every one of his neighbours lost their stock.

He spoke to Laura Bicker on what was the burial ground for some 500,000 cattle, and is now the Watchtree Nature Reserve, near Carlisle.
