Cumbria gunman Derrick Bird was 'paranoid'

Killer Derrick Bird was paranoid, had suicidal thoughts and was convinced his twin brother had "stitched him up", his best friend told an inquest.

Neil Jacques, 52, said Bird was obsessing about his tax problems and had resigned himself to being jailed after not declaring his real income for 15 years.

The taxi driver went on a shooting rampage in West Cumbria last June before turning a gun on himself.

Danny Savage reports.
