Ali Dizaei retrial after appeal clears conviction

Former Scotland Yard commander Ali Dizaei has been cleared on appeal of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in a public office.

Mr Dizaei was jailed in February 2010 after being found guilty of attempting to frame a business associate after they had an argument over money.

He has been granted bail and the Court of Appeal has instructed that he face a retrial.

Mr Dizaei's solicitor, Stephen Fox said "he and his family are very pleased the Court of Appeal has quashed" the conviction.
