Falklands War: HMS Sheffield lost after missile hit

British destroyer HMS Sheffield is hit by an Exocet missile with the loss of 20 crew members.

The hit starts a fire in the control room, which in turn leads to the ship being abandoned - but the lack of damage below the water line means she does not sink.

Brian Hanrahan reports from the South Atlantic.

First broadcast 28 May 1982.
