London 2012: Stadium officially opened

Up to 75,000 members of the public have visited the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London, for the venue's official opening.

The highlight of the "2,012 hours to go" event saw a randomly selected youngster officially open the stadium with the help of Sebastian Coe and Vernon Kay.

Lord Coe described the event as "the one big opportunity" to test the park management and security.

The BBC's James Pearce described the opening.
