Immigration staff eve of Games strike called off

A 24-hour strike by border control staff which was due to start on the eve of the Olympic Games has been called off.

The walkout and a subsequent work-to-rule could have caused serious disruption at Heathrow as thousands of spectators arrived at the airport.

The Public and Commercial Services union said the government had agreed to create hundreds of new jobs, but the Home Office has denied this.

Daniel Boettcher reports.
