Paralympic flame burns in Belfast

A cauldron has been lit at Stormont, the latest event marking the Paralympic Games, which open in London on Wednesday.

It was lit using the Northern Ireland flame which was created on Wednesday 22 August on Slieve Donard by a team of local scouts.

Former Paralympian Angela Hendra MBE was given the honour of lighting the bowl in front of Stormont.

The Belfast Flame Festival continues with events across Northern Ireland, culminating with a celebration at City Hall.
