Cosmetic surgery patients 'not made aware of risks'

Many people considering cosmetic surgery are "not made aware of the risks" and subjected to hard-sell marketing tactics, a member of a panel considering responses to a public consultation on the industry has told the BBC.

Vivienne Parry said that people were being offered cheaper prices for quick decisions and "not being give adequate time to reflect."

The public consultation is part of a review set up after the PIP breast implant scandal last year. A final report, by Sir Bruce Keogh, the NHS medical director, is due in March.
