Nightingale case: Service Prosecuting Authority statement

An SAS sniper has been convicted of possessing a prohibited pistol and more than 300 rounds of ammunition.

It was the second time that Sergeant Danny Nightingale had stood trial; his original convictions for the same offences were quashed at the Court of Appeal after a high profile campaign.

Colonel Charles Barnett of the Service Prosecuting Authority gave a short statement outside the hearing.
