Boris Johnson urges Syria 'flexibility'

Boris Johnson has said that the UK should remain open to the possibility of British military involvement in Syria if certain conditions are met, following an alleged chemicals weapons attack near Damascus.

MPs defeated the government last week in a vote on the issue and ministers have since insisted that no second vote will take place.

But the Conservative mayor of London speaking to LBC radio said that if it could be proved that President Assad's regime was responsible for the attack, and if the US had a "coherent, limited" plan for a military response, then there was a case for Britain to reconsider its stance.
