Former radical warns Jihadists are 'naive' about war

A former British radical has warned that young people are 'noble' but 'naive' by becoming Jihadists.

Dr Usama Hasan, from the counter-extremism think tank the Quilliam Foundation, said he "knew nothing of Afghan regional politics" when he went to fight there in 1990, aged 19.

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "It's misplaced to say, 'I'm going there to protect Muslims' - because you're helping prolong the war and making it worse.
