Police 'diverted money from abuse investigation'

A former detective with South Yorkshire Police has told BBC News that senior officers in the force diverted money away from an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children.

Tony Brookes claims thousands of pounds were used to tackle robbery, car crime and burglary to comply with government targets, despite mounting evidence that young girls in Sheffield were suffering serious sexual abuse.

South Yorkshire Police say they will investigate his allegations.

Michael Buchanan reports.
